Some new tooth fairy bags

Last week I created some brand new tooth fairy bags, & had a couple more designs on the go to share as well. Over the weekend I managed to get 2 new designs created & samples made. I am loving making these, they are so cute & fun to create. As I said in my last post I forgot what an exciting event it is to lose a tooth.

So here are 2 newbies to be released.

New Tooth Fairy Bags

I have finally finished creating my tooth fairy bags. With my son having lost 2 teeth this year, the occasion is such a HUGE milestone, I had absolutely no idea. It's quite a build up with it wobbling, & then there is the anxious wait of it coming out. Hudson is not one to consider inflicting any pain, or creating risk which would cause pain or blood. He waited patiently for it too fall out, until it got to the point where it was just hanging there. So I tugged it in the end & out it came. I was terrified he'd lose it at school or swallow it.

With such a big event brought me to understanding the need for a tooth fairy bag. I created a sweet little bag to pop your tooth inside, & it also comes with a certificate so you can document the date & when each tooth comes out.  On the certificate is a sweet verse I created talking about how teeth are created into a magical glittery dust.

Each tooth fairy bag can be personalised with your child's name.
Is made of 100% cotton & approximately 17.5cm x 13.5cm.

At the moment I have only finished these 2 designs, but have more to come which are being created into samples as I type. I look forward to sharing them.

Easter 2014

It feels so early to talk about Easter today, yikes, I feel strange even bringing it up.
Should I or shouldn't I?

Every time I walk into the supermarket there seems to be more & more Easter eggs on the shelf, which means more hounding from the kids for me to buy some. Telling them to wait is becoming a challenge. They are still really young, so trying to explain that it's 2 months away, or 9 weeks away means absolutely nothing.  Easter this year is April 18th-21st.

I have created a couple of lovely items for the Easter season & wanted to first share my cushions with you. A lovely idea to combine with a delicious Easter egg, a prefect 1st Easter choice, or a great chocolate alternative.

As mentioned I have a couple of other things for Easter, one of them is a download which is so new for me. It's a lot of fun, & I am sure you will like it.

What's new in cushions

Amongst the Christmas madness I have found some time to get a bit of drawing done. If I don't stop sometimes & make time to draw & create, I get incredibly frustrated. In a way it's my meditation!!

Here are some new designs I have just added to my web site.

Monkey BusinessA personalised cushion with a little bit of super fun monkey business. A superhero monkey, a biking monkey & a skate board monkey. Great bold boys colours & a design so full of fun.

Miss Camping BunnyFor lovers of camping will be able to capture memories with this sweet design.
Say hello to Missy Bunny as she plays around her groovy chevron patterned tent, catching butterflies butterflies while the sun is shining brightly.

All designs are now loaded in my shop.

Just a reminder that cut off for international orders is 30th November & Australian orders December 10th to ensure they are posted in time for Christmas.

New Designs

After weeks of work its time to start loading some new products to my stores. I love this part, taking photos and the editing. I make no claim at being a great photographer or editor, AT ALL. What I have learnt is like so much of my artwork back ground is, "trial, error and determation".
Thats it, oh and did I mention a few tanty's inbetween especially when I cant get it right haha!

So here we go...

Rainbows Unicorn personalised cushion

Blue Sausage Dog and owl personalised cushion

Elephant and Hot Air balloon - girls

Elephant and Hot Air balloon - boys

Choo Choo Train personalised Cushion

I still have quite a lot of work to post which is coming through slowly.

Valentine Love Bird Personalised Cushion

I have finally finished my Love Bird Design and created it into a decorative cushion. With the kids home constantly distracting me, unfortunately this is about all I have managed to do when it comes to sewing and cutting.

It is definitely Valentine's day inspired, created with the very pink love bird fluttering around a heart felt garden. Don't forget although the word LOVE is there it can definitely be changed to another special name instead.

Available now in my web store, etsy, and madeit stores.

Have a great weekend.

Playing with Mod Podge

Ever had one of those things you have always wanted to do, but struggled to find time to just do it? Mine is experimenting with Mod Podge. I see hundreds of things I want to create with this sticky sealing substance it gets me so excited. I finally made time, and decided to jump in & have a go myself.

I am in the midst of creating a new product. Sorry can't spill any beans as I am purely testing. My plan is to use my designs of course, and to see if I could print them out on my paper, and Mod Podge them onto a wooden surface. I had an MDF style blank coaster here for testing, and thought I'd put one of my newest designs (which eventually be a cushion & other things), on it to see what happened. I was a bit nervous with excitement, and in fear hoping it wouldn't be a flop!

Ready to go...brushes a plenty, as I wasn't sure which to use, a coaster,  my design, a mat to work on & the star of the show...."Mod Podge".

I watched a you tube clip so I could be very sure what to do. When I watched it I had that, "is that all" moment. It was so simple actually, I don't know why I thought it would be harder. I coated to coaster, applied my image, pushed out any bubbles with a ruler, & flipped it over to cut any over hang. Done!

I let it dry for 15 mins, just like the you tube experts suggested, painted another coat over the top, making sure all edges were covered sufficiently, and I was done. I let it dry for a couple of hours and I couldn't believe just how hard, and sealed it was. It dried very clearly. My main criticism to myself, would be I will invest in the foam brush they suggested, as my brushed left some brush stroke lines. I am note sure if that's "OK", but I would like to eliminate some.

All done and very exciting, now I am going to have a go at something else.

Have a beautiful Tuesday.

BRAND NEW ART HOOPS

I am so excited to have finally completed my brand new embroidery hoops!! They had been delayed a couple of days due to bad weather, making good photos almost unachievable. But nevertheless, they are here & I am thrilled.
I have put my illustrations to work and have placed them in delicate wooden 20cm wooden embroidery hoops. I have made them a bit more 'special', by adding a lovely decorative ruffle around the edge. The print & ruffle is perfectly coordinated, and also coordinates with other items in my shop. The print is one complete print, and not separate pieces sewn together.

The hoop can hang easily on a small hook even a tack.

All hoops are 20cm or 7 7/8 inches
Price $24 plus shipping.

Here they are;

Love and Rainbows

For one week only buy 1 hoop & the second half price.
There are 2 ways to take advantage of this, please email me directly with the designs you would like, & I can then forward you with a PayPal invoice.
Or please order via my shop & in the message box please advise which 2 designs you would like, but remember to tick OTHER for payment options. I will then forward you a PayPal invoice.

Have a great day!

New product coming soon

Most people world wide are watching the very famous Melbourne Cup today, an event that literally stops this nation, and one that happen about 35 minutes from my house. It's also a public holiday & which means hubby is home.

I am not into horse racing, & not really fussed with who wins either. Is that shameful of me?? Instead I am taking this opportunity to work on a new line of products I have been busting to get starting. I have shipped hubby off to take the kids to see their cousins, & I am working hard trying to get this together as I would like to be selling it at a market I am exhibiting at this coming Sunday.

No hints at this stage as to what it is, just a new way of hanging my artwork is all I will say.

I hope you're having a great holiday today if you're living in Australia.

NEW : Home Decor for all the family

A new area of my business is a home decor range for all of the family, not just for the kiddies. I want to introduce new designs slowly, piece by piece. For a while now I have had customers ask when can I create cushions, especially doorstops, for them & their houses. I am still trying to get my head around exactly what I want it to look like. It is hard trying to cater to everyone, & not design for one particular style. Especially colour as everyone's home is so unique to them. I know I love bright colours, but I also want to keep it neutral with pops of colour.

It's definitely a work in motion project, & today I am sharing my first piece.

I am a fan of flowers & adore this saying by Jane Austen, which I have been wanting to use it somehow for a while, but I felt the right opportunity hadn't come up for it. This first design I have created is something I would definitely put in my house. My house is fairly neutral with bold highlight colours of magenta & lots of turquoise.

A generous size 40x30cm, but not by any means domineering.

The back is finished with an oatmeal coloured cotton, based on the oatmeal & white stripe I have used in the design.

I have also created a doorstop of course! This design is now sitting happily at my front doors, & my internal door that opens straight to my garage.

Everything is now available in my online stores.

Under the Sea

I am working furiously on new designs & will be happy to say most of them are complete. It's a very exciting time for me when I can start showing you what I have been up to.

While I was away we spent a lot of time at the beach, & also did some looking around under rocks to see what we could fine. I love the sea & it's beauty & have a tendency to daydream a bit, wondering what is going on under the water were I can't see.
What's there?
Who's there?
What colour is it?
Is there 1 fish or many?

I am a fan of the zoo, & the aquarium, & I could spend hours watching all creatures swimming. I love their beauty & their effortless gliding in the water, it look so smooth and gentle. I love the idea of a MASSIVE fish tank at home, just like this one below....How cool is it?? But just don't like the idea of all the maintenance.

So I decided to have an under the sea design theme. I knew I wanted a vintage style tug boat, starfish, seahorse, sea grass, jelly fish & of course fish. I found these fabulous images below to get the ball rolling, giving me shapes & colours to work with.

This is the end design result, still in a drawn format, but they are ready & waiting to be made into cushions, doorstops, a bunting & some ready to hang wall art.

After what felt like days & days of tweaking (which was only a whole night), changing & redrawing I am very happy with the result.

Are you a fan of the sea?
