Primary School Orientation

Yesterday was a big day for myself & Hudson. He starts primary school next year, OMG, which I still can't believe. We went to the first day of orientation, there are 5 to attend. Now I have to tell you that I am not really worried about him going to school. I hear mothers that cry, sob alone in the car, have near panic attacks & I am wondering if I am normal as I am not feeling this. When he has his official first day I may, but not today. He was happy, enthusiastic, friendly & ready to start.

All mums think their children are amazingly gifted, gorgeous souls & today I am gloating about my little man.

My eyes fill with tears when I think about him deeply. I have created such a gorgeous confident & social person. He talks to everybody, never any judgement, or negativity & is always polite. He is happy, has a genuine warm soul, & always shows empathy for others, and he cares. He shows enthusiasm at any task thrown his way. He also has quite the competitive streak in him to achieve. Mmmmm just a tad like mama here. He is gentle & sensitive, & understands not to be rude or cruel to others, as he knows if he is treated that way it would upset him.

I feel excited for him. Super excited actually. He is a May baby so on the older end of the some of the kids in his kinder class. I still remember his first day of 3 year old kinder. He was excited, I was nervous. I was praying he would make friends, & nice friends. I remember taking him to the door on his first day, feeling unsure what the routine was. I didn't have to worry about him crying or being scared, because he went & sat on the mat with the rest of his new friends. The little bugger didn't even say goodbye. Again he was ready. I had a look of incompleteness on my face, my baby didn't kiss me goodbye. His adorable teacher, with her experience must have known what I was thinking, so invited me in to say good bye & take a photo. He waved. That moment is still so clear in my head.

The first day of 4 year old kinder was quite different. I knew what was going on, & after 6 weeks of this active little energiser bunny at home, I was happy to say goodbye as he went in. Again he was ready to learn the next stage of his life. What a years it's been. He has a friend with whom he is inseparable with, & I am blessed his mum is a fantastic lady & new friend.

This year he has grown up incredibly. Bye bye to the little baby boy I said goodbye to on his very first day. My baby is a real boy, he looks like a boy, acts like a boy & runs 24/7 like a boy. Yesterday at orientation he left willingly with his new teacher for an hour, as I stayed & listened to the information provided. He came back to me gleaming, wanting to run around the school, with his best mate beside him, together they wanted to explore.

He is so ready for primary school, so eager, & so enthusiastic. The world is his oyster & I can't wait to watch him go for it. He is my world & I love him.

Hudson's 5th Birthday Party

Here are a few photos from Hudson's Birthday Party I thought would be great to share.

Here are the photo's of the party table. I am definitely not a birthday party planner, so I grabbed a few ideas online to set this up. I bought the printables from here, as I just didn't have the time to draw them myself, nor did I need to they were perfect. One thing I have learnt about doing these tables, boys don't care, boys didn't even notice, boys only want to run & chase each other. I am kind of wondering to be honest if these elaborate tables are more for the parents creative satisfaction. Lets see when Charlotte starts having her own parties she notices?

The guest of honour, SPIDER MAN, he was just amazing, & I hired him from here. I decided to splash out & hire someone as I was a little unsure how I was going to control & entertain twelve 5yr olds, especially the boys for the whole time. He was incredibly entertaining & literally had them captivated from the moment her arrived. He told them stories about his adventures fighting crime & defeating the green goblin, there was a dance off, & freeze game, face painting, rewards for the kids, & balloons twisting. For this event all the kids were given sword balloons so they could battle it out together on the grass. I have to say it again, he was great.

Here is a rare photo of the 4 of us. Normally I am the one behind the camera taking photos. It was nice how were were all looking in the right direction, regardless of facial expressions.

My little man of the hour. This photo was taken just before Spider Man left, I think by the look on his face the day was a success.

Day at the farm

Yesterday I headed out to the Collingwood children's farm with my lovely girlfriends from my mothers group, & their kids. I don't see them as much as I would like too, but when the 4 of us are together its hectic, yet great. To be honest I look forward to our dinners out more now!

The sun was shining & it was a beautiful sunny Autumn day, & all of the animals were relatively active, which made for excited children running around like chooks themselves.

I have to admit it's not Hudsons favourite place to be. He is not an animal lover. He respects them & keeps a fairly healthy distance between himself & them. That's fine, as I am a bit the same. The unpredictability of animals has always made me a little nervous. Where as my other one, well, Miss Charlotte I think is like a mini animal whisperer. No fear whatsoever, & the animals are always drawn to her, it freaks me out sometimes. She has certainly taken me out of my comfort zone a few times as I have had to accompany her to pat animals, & hold the reins of ponies so she can have rides, and pull her away from getting far too close at times. She has tanty's when we have to move on, oh boy the joys of an animal lover.

I wanted to share a couple of photo's of the new friends she made on the day.

Yep Hudson is no where to be seen, instead he was climbing trees.

Such beautiful, but such very different children's I have & I love it.

If you're from Melbourne, I hope you're enjoying the school holidays as much as I have. It's been a fabulous week & a half, I can't believe they are nearly over. I am off to the movies today to see The Croods with them, as well as their cousins, & I actually can't wait.

The month it's been

This last month I believe has been the hardest I ever think I have worked. I think I have accomplished a full time job on casual/part time hours. I recall working just as hard when I was employed, but then I didn't have the distractions of the kids. If I needed to put in 10 hours straight to get the job done, I'd do it no questions asked. I have put together a whole range of new products, not just for Tiges and Weince but Quirky and Quaint. I always put together a new range every 6 months, with add ons in between but this was different. Coordinating other brands, developing new products, and making sure they were all cohesive was an exciting yet over whelming challenge. I have a real passion for putting together ranges, or collections depending on your preferred term. I have been doing it for 12 years & I never tire of it. It's such a thrilling and exciting job to do. I get asked all the time my tips & tricks for a cohesive collection, so I am thinking in the future it would be lovely to share my tips & thought process on the whole thing. From just doing it to actually writing about it, so I need to have a think of the best way to do it. You can see my new Summer QQ catalogue here.

Today I wanted to share my favourite shots I took of Hudson for the catalogue. He is obviously riding the hobby horses I am selling & the divine Fedora hats. Best part of all is this mini photo shoot cost me a whole 2 chocolate biscuits.

Another shot selected. It's also the shot I am using to promote as the FREE monthly host gift for September.

Yes I am biased because he is mine, but boy i think he did a brilliant job. The fact he is not camera shy helped.

Hop you're having a great Friday.

A milestone day...

A super exciting day today. After a week an a half we left the house. These colds have been shared far too much amongst our family & I am happy to say I think it's moving on.

I wanted to go out today, & had planned on going to the park, but then the clouds started rolling in & looking very grey, so spontaneously I booked 4 movie tickets online, to go & see Ice Age.

This was a milestone today as it was Charlotte's first movie. I was quite apprehensive about taking her, she is only 2yrs, & she can be a little challenging at times. I had my mum with me, so I know if I had to escape, Hudson would be cared for inside.

She was in awe of the screen, she was like a deer in head lights, just wide eyed and staring at the wide screen. Bigger than she has ever seen before. She actually was quite well behaved. became quite restless at times as she had to check out the chairs, lift her booster seat, then sit on my lap, then nanna's lap & it happened all over again. However she wasn't disruptive which is what I was more worried about. She cuddled up when it got to loud, but didn't whimper or carry on.

I feel like we are heading in the direction f new adventures. My baby is big enough for the movies OMG!! I am actually really excited as I love the cinema & so does Hudson, so it looks like there will be plenty of movies dates for the 3 of us in the future....

Something for Hudson

I think it's typical at times to be so busy making product for customers, you sometimes forget to create for those who mean the most to you.

This was a very special order for my very special little man.

HUDSON

He LOVES, & I emphasise the LOVES Lightning McQueen.

He literally eats, breathes & sleeps the whole 'Cars' franchise.

It's pretty clear that he loves it, I just adore how something so simple lights up his eyes.
Pure pleasure xx
