Sunday - Flemington Market

It's Monday already where does the time go? How was your weekend? Mine was lovely and it was nice to get back into routine after the School holidays & everyone being unwell. Even though I have now picked up their bug!

On Sunday we were supposed to visit Healsville Sanctuary but we didn't make it. Coming down with the kids cold made me want to pop out an enjoy the beautiful winter sunshine, but not as an all day event. I just wasn't feeling up to it. Instead we headed down to Flemington market. Beside a great way to check out whats new in the world of handmade, and gourmet food, you can always guarantee fun for the kids. Which was my intention to give them a few hours of fun. So here are a few snaps shots of the kids time.

A very cool little train ride for the kids where they are pulled all over the grass. The driver was fabulous, he drove around in large circles, there was lots of zig zagging, and turning in lots of new directions. You could hear him a mile away getting the kids to scream out "All aboard"!! A bit of a thrill for my two.

A spot of painting for both of them. This was fabulous. I don't pull the paint out as often as I should at home, purely for the fact it takes forever to set up, for 20 minutes of activity. Drives me nuts quietly. Which is why this was great, they got to choose a design, sit down, pop on their apron and it was all ready to go. And I didn't have to clean up!! I am not sure if there was a timer on this activity but Hudson took forever painting his dragon. He reminds me of me, making sure it looks right, then tweaking here, and adding there!

Miss Charlotte....Surprise surprise she picked a dog. Oh my little animal lover. We didn't get much in the lines, not that I was expecting it. She certainly did enjoy splashing her brush around in the water, then swishing it around the paint pots. By the end of it her colours were quite mixed together.

The balloon artists, my kids love this stuff and always watch with anticipation. The guy creating them was quite good, a bit of a clown himself entertaining the kids.

Animal farm.....True to her nature in went Charlotte getting up an personal with all of them. Hudson didn't go in, he is so much like me with animals, happy to look from a far. Not Miss C, she pats them, waves to them, tries talking to them. I think I could leave her in there all day.

Stroking the guinea pigs. It's amazing how gentle she is, I always get a little worried when her time is up as she becomes quite attached. This little guy here was called Vegemite! What an Aussie name.

What a great few hours it was. It was also great to catch up with a few stall holders that I knew. The market didn't feel as busy as usual which was a shame, which I am sure is a winter things. There are stall holders there that I have recognised from years ago and it's still lovely that business must be treating them so well.

I hope you had a great Sunday or weekend for that fact, what did you get up to?

Boutique Market Melbourne Debut Tomorrow

Tomorrow I will be at the Boutique market debut in Melbourne.

I am really excited as I love a good market.
I will also be a great way to see how I retail on the day not being at a 'traditional' kids market. It may not however be good for my purse, if you know what I mean.

I will be stall #1, if you come along please make sure to say hi.

Also at the market I will be having a little sales "SPECIAL".
After a great response to my kids heat bags/cold packs, which started as making one for my son. I have made a few different designs & will have a basket full at the market.
Individually they are $15, but until tomorrow night 7pm AEST I will be having 2 for $26.
To see and read more just head to my madeit store.

If you don't get to the market & would like to take advantage of this, that's fine just email me please direct with your order & I will send you an invoice.

I hope to see you there x

More door stops & cushions to reveal

Wow it's Tuesday already.
Weekends seem to fly for me, between creating, making orders, the kids activities and just life in general, before I know it it's Sunday night.

I made some time during last week to sneak in some new work. I do crave development and design time, it's very freeing, having an idea and not knowing how it will finish up.

Two new cushions, and two new door stops, finally completed in time for the Fairy Floss market on the Sunday just past. It's such a a satisfying feeling watching a design concept come to fruition. I also had a great response, which was even better, especially to the door stops.

My two cushion design were based on artwork I did a couple of years ago. I didn't even have the work on file only the prints, goodness know where they could be as I have a tonne of USB sticks. After scanning and playing around and improving both designs, this is what I finished with.

Viking Cushion - I have also done magnetic bookmarks in this design ages ago.

Blue Owl Door Stop - There is a pink version of this which has been really popular, hence my new colour way. Also if the owl looks familiar it is based off my boy and girl night owl cushion.

Birdy Stack Door Stop - A familiar bird based of many of my designs including the Girly Bird Cushion.

Mathilda's Market tomorrow

I am busily preparing for Mathilda's market tomorrow in Hawthorne Melbourne.

Today I am double checking my stock, making sure I have plenty. I have also decided to make a few changes to my stall as well. Not a complete make over but a shuffle around of props and product, a layout change is a better choice of words. The last couple of markets I haven't been 100% happy with everything. I guess nothing is perfect and that's how we keep getting better at things in life, change, shuffle, redo. That's my thought anyway.

Mathilda's is such a busy and frantic experience and I absolutely love it. It's a great chance to speak with customers, saying hi to people you only know from facebook and blogs. Best of there is no one more honest than the public. By the end of the day I always walk away with a good idea of winning design, and what I call the dogs! Harsh but true. With the amount of people that walk through those doors I feel it's very justifiable.

If you're in the are please come and say hello, I am at stall number 35 in the largest hall of the 3.
See you there.

Yarraville Market Saturday 5th September

I am trying a new market this Saturday, Yarraville Market. I am looking forward to it as I have had good reports from it. I am taking a real punt here as I am attending without even going to it beforehand to check it out. My main reason is, is that I usually attend Sisters Market, but I need a change.
As you can imagine, like many of us who attend markets, I am rushing madly trying to get organised. This to do and cross off my check list start with;
1. Cut out iron on transfers, old ones and newbies.
2. Print new swing tickets.
3. Stock up on business cards.
4. Finish making some of my new spring items.
5. Put magnets on bookmarks.
6. Update stock taken list.
7. Double check EVERYTHING!!
8. Put on a happy face & enjoy myself.
I hope whoever lives on that side of town comes along, and don't forget to come by and say hello. Hope to see you there :)
