New mini collection called Pretty Kitty

I have just released today my new mini collection called Pretty Kitty. Each piece has such pretty & playful feel to it. With the kitty cat coloured in a soft grey I had to surround her in lots of pink as the colours look beautiful together. I can't help but draw flowers, it's one of those pretty additions I add to so many pieces of my artwork. What can I say flowers make me smile. I created this collection for little girls who love their kitty cats.

Buy adding any of the items, or all of them for that matter will make your little girl bedroom feel sweet & so very pretty. There is nothing like loveliness in a bedroom.

As you can see the cushion & clock are personalised, but if you don't want a name thats fine jut write none in the box. The wall prints ca be purchased individually or as a gorgeous collection.

Email me with any queries, I'd love to hear from you...Stay in touch.

Newborn Gift Ideas For Boys

I have created some personalised gifts which are just perfect for a new born baby boy. I am not a huge fan of the 'teddy bear' unfortunately, but I do LOVE me a baby bunny!! There is something so sweet about their floppy ears & big feet. I don't create a lot of really newborn baby items so it was such a sweet change to create something so darn cute. I wanted to keep the colours minimal, & as you would be aware my work is normally overloaded with colour, so created these pieces force a little bit of restraint I have to admit.

I am really happy with the result. A birth cushion is a wonderful keepsake. The baby boy print designed, are words from my own heart, & I am positive every mother can relate to them. The pillowcase, is the perfect next step. Hudson was quite young when he moved to a big boys bed, (only 18months), & to be honest I found it really hard to find some individual pillowcases that I could buy with having to buy the whole bed set.

Each of the items can be found in my shop, & incase you're wondering yes I have a girls version available in the birth cushion, print & pillowcase.

Chevron patterns - create your own colours!

Who doesn't love the chevron design? I would have to say it's probably the hottest pattern that has been used for well over 12 months now. I can't see it fading off anytime soon, & I can I put it out there, I think it maybe be here to stay. Could it become a classic? Only time will tell.

I love the chevron design for its interesting yet simplistic structure. There are basic lines, zig zag zig zag, yet not too bold, overpowering, or in your face. No obvious icons? No clashing patterns to make your eyes sting. Personally it's become a strong feature in my illustration work, a great move on from the straight line. As my work has lots of details, full of fun icons, patterns, & whatever else enters my mind (haha), the chevron design has done a fine job sitting in  the back ground. Using it like I used a basic stripe for so long, kinda, bores me now!

Today I haven't created the wheel, design anything that is going to blow your socks off, I have designed a basic chevron personalised cushion & wall art. It was so obvious I never thought of doing it! A friend ask for this cushion, for her girlfriend who just had a baby. She asked for a basic chevron design in 2 colours. Nothing else at all. Grey & yellow. Thats was it. It was for a nursery & the new mamma is keeping it simple.

Thats when I thought thats not the only person who wants something simple, to maybe co-ordinate in a space already swamped with other themes & designs. Or something where a pop of colour is needed, but nothing fancy. Or even for a baby shower where the sex is unknown with a cute slogan, or a question mark.

What's great about this is that YOU get to choose your own colours. All you will need to do is select the colour of the name or word, the colour of zig zag #1 (white) & the colour of zig zag #2 (grey). All of the colours available are in the product listings.

So simple.

Chalk board art that accidentally happened

OK, so I have created something without any real intentions. It's quite funny when things happen when they were never on the do to list. It's even better when they come out SO much better than you anticipated.

I have been admiring chalk board art for a long time now, especially watching you tube movies of it, & seeing the real thing happen before my eyes. It's remarkable.
I love watching incredibly talented artists, it inspires the heck out of me.
So with inspiration bubbling I had a play, but the digital way, so yep straight on the screen. Regardless it was such a fun way to work, I kind of didn't stop....for a while.
Before I knew it I created seven pieces just like that, & all pieces I would happily hang in my own home.

While creating, I also had mothers day in my head too. Making things that I would definitely give to mum, & pieces I know my girlfriends would also. Especially the seven essentials design.

So here they are, & they are all available in my shop.

I hope Monday is a magical day for you.

New Valentines Prints

I have been working on my hand lettering skills, & feeling quite satisfied with the results. It's been taking a lot of practise behind the scenes, & there is still so much to learn.

Valentines, wedding, anniversaries are great celebrations for this type of work.

Here are two new ones I created last night.

Both are available in my shop now.

Last Assignment #5 - MATS course

What a furious fast paced 5 weeks it has been. I have just completed my last assignment which was dedicated to gift wear.

I was asked to find things that I collect. Unfortunately I am not much of a collector, I am not a huge fan of clutter. One thing I have kept are the ticket stubs from my favourite places I have visited on my travels. This is what I found.

I had to create a piece of artwork gathered from this inspiration into a zipper purse, to sell in a quirky little gift store. Ooh how I love those kind of shops, the kind in the small townships you drive through when travelling. Shops with treasures I call them.

To be honest, inspiration wasn't hitting very fast as the stubs & pamphlets were old, a little discoloured, & lack a whole lot of colour. One place I am passionate about is Paris. I adore the city, & it's been nearly 7 years since I was there last. Boo Hoo!

With a hell of a lot of thinking I scanned the map of the Louvre & recoloured it as my base texture. Then I just layered all over it the National French Symbol, the iconic Eiffel Tower, some stripes, french words, a couple more flowers & texture.  This is how it turned out.

I am happy with how it has turned out. I am also feeling quite envious of some of the other work I have seen from my fellow students, as some of them have FABULOUS collections. From buttons, to figurines, to stones, feathers & so much more. To have had something like this so I could have photographed them would have been great. I could have used some of the kids collections, but from a copyright perspective I could find myself in hot water.

I am going to continue on with part B of this course which starts in October.
It truly has been a blast.

Arrrrh Pirates

Some brand new artwork I have manage to complete over the weekend.
I have been working on this pirate design for a while, & I haven't been happy with it, so I popped him away about 8 weeks ago. It was great to reopen the work over the weekend with some fresh eyes as I immediately saw what wasn't working, & fixed it up, finally completing it.

There will be a cushion coming soon.
I am REALLY low on printing stock at the moment, & my next delivery is early July so I can't make any samples to show. Very annoying, let me tell you!
But this will give you an idea of what it will look like.

I hope you're keeping warm today as it's FREEZING in Melbourne brrrrrrrr.

New Ballet Artwork - trio prints

I have finally finished my ballet prints & really happy with them. I have used all of my inspiration that I have collected. I really enjoyed working with such pretty images, making them very pink, girly, elegant, & really fluffy.

My first set of trio prints, I haven't made anything in sets yet, but have had a few requests.

Now the print have been created I need to get on to the decor coordinates.

Have a lovely weekend.

New artwork...perfect for the play room

I have been creating lots of new work lately & look forward to sharing everything with you bit by bit.

As well as cushions which are being printed as made as I type :) I wanted to create some new updated prints. Inspired by wanting to brighten up my kids playrooms I wanted to design unisex designs that will fit in absolutely anywhere. being such a sucker for colour, spots, stripes and everything in between I knew of course they bolder the better.

Sing a rainbow...Oh my goodness I love this song and have been wanting to pop it on paper for ages. I had it exactly in my head how I wanted to draw it. All of the colours of the rainbow, and different tones of each colour saying the word. The text of the song had to be soft and floaty. I am really looking forward to hanging this so my kids can see it, make a connection with the colours as well as the words. Lastly & the best bit then we can sing together.

ABC....A classic goodie which is so important. I am hoping here with the letters visible to see day in day out, it will resonate with my kids. It's such a fun way to learn the alphabet too. Below is a unsex colour combination, however I have created a more 'girly' colour combination which you can see online.

Reading is cool....A new version of a reading print. I am such a huge book fan I just had to create it. I was desperate to create an apple and bookworm in this design. It kind made me giggle just creating it.

I just love creating new work and have so much more to show, and would love to know what you think. It was just a quick update to let you know where I am at. Stay tuned for some more :)
