Slide Shows

As part of changing things up a bit around here, I have finally hired a web designer to develop the website I want. I am so crazy happy! It's lovely, well it's going to be & I can't wait to share it.

At the moment there is a lot of emailing back & forth communicating, which is frustrating as I am dying to have it finished. But as they say Rome wasn't built in a day, & neither will the website. But I just know it will be worth the wait. At the moment, while all of the very important html stuff is happening behind the scenes, I am left with the pretty stuff. Making it look great in my own style. My most current task has been to create a slide show. You know like rotating pages on your landing page? Well it hasn't been as easy as I thought. I started hunting for inspiration & found those with fantastic slide shows, are mostly businesses that sell several brands, so I am assuming it makes it that much easier. Especially if you're provided with the images.

So I started thinking about what I want.  I don't have large budget for professional photos at the moment. So I had to pull out my thinking/creative cap & get to work. I decided to used existing artwork created, as there was no point reinventing the wheel.

This is what I have come up with.

There isn't too much I would change so far, but I need to create another 2 I think, so need to work on those.

Finally my NEW website that I LOVE!!

I am so excited this morning as I have completed my new website.

In the past I have tried a few web hosts & havent been happy. For about 12 months now I have left my home page either directed at my blog or etsy store. After searching around I gave up. The other night in the private MATS FB group, someone asked the question, "Does anyone know of a great DIY web host site?" After many comments, there was a common thread Squarespace. I had never heard of them, so I checked them out & was thrilled. I love the clean simple layout, it's perfect for what I need right now. I also checked out the girls website who had recommended them & was very impressed.

After lots of fiddling around, contacting their very efficient 24/7 help support a few times, I have completed it. There is so much more to add to it, it's only the beginning.

I am feeling pretty good about my new home.

Website Change

I have made a big change to the way you can shop with Tiges and Weince.

For the last few months I have been having dreadful problems with my current website host. Not just the website itself, but my customers have been constantly emailing me about the glitches in the shop. It's been very frustrating, & unfortunately the response from my host was always very slow. So I have decided to make my main shop, my Etsy shop for the time being until I really work out what I want to do.

It's such a well run shopping extravaganza, it just seems like the obvious place, my range is always most current there, and I just adore the whole atmosphere of it.

While I am basing everything from my blog for a while, it will give me some time to give it some TLC which it's been lacking a bit of lately. It will also get me into a far better rhythm of writing regularly and keeping you very updated with new things happening, and the crazy Christmas build up which is starting to bubble slowly.

My New Website Launched

I decided to build my own website, just because I don't have enough on my plate haha.

I really felt that I needed to be able to control every aspect of it, from changing it a bit here, and tinkering a bit there. The thought of someone else building it scared me as I honestly thought I would drive them mad with my constant changing my mind. I had a few friends advise me also, that with every change more cost was added.

Anyway it has taken me FOREVER, well nearly a month just to achieve this much. I still have a bit to do, and a huge amount behind the scenes with all of the tags & other odds and ends I am to learn about.

I am pretty happy with it, and quite chuffed that I did it. I used MrSite as I had experience with them before and found them quite simple to use. Simplicity was my key deciding point, if it was too hard and fiddly, forget it.

I would love you to pop over and have a look and tell me what I think.
