Little Indian Inspiration

I have fallen head over heels with all things that remind me of American Indians. It's such a cool theme. I have to firstly admit it's all a visual love, & that I have no knowledge of American Indian history.

I love the idea of living in a teepee, although it probably wasn't very luxurious at all. Mmmmm dirt ground, no thanks! But how cool are they as an inside tent, it really make the regular concept of cubby house really boring.
The super large feathers on the headdress are absolutely breath taking. The colours on the tips, the workmanship, the tribal symbols are just amazing & inspiring.
Now bows an arrows I am not a huge fan for the obvious reason, but they are divine. So earthy, natural, & fierce, I love the made by hand quality in every piece.
The dream catcher I found here isn't very traditional, but thats OK, it is however absolutely stunning. Such an ancient & traditional tool created into a beautifully crafted piece with a vintage feel.

With the above inspiration I have created my own "Little Indian" pieces, which are in my own bold style, bright & will be perfect for boys bedrooms. I opted against a natural colour palette & used what feels safe & bright for me. I would almost consider them muted brights. I love turquoise & grey together with he pops of re & olive, ideal for a little indians bedroom.

Above is the hero piece which has been created into several other bedroom decor pieces which I look forward to sharing soon.

Mood Board - Pink Ballet Inspired bedroom

A mood board inspired by my daughters love of dancing. She has just started a 'big girls' ballet class this year, & she absolutely loves it. Her moves surprise me, I never thought she would be able to move smoothly & gracefully enough to conquer the techniques. I feel guilty for underestimating her, as she really is lovely, & has caught on really well. She is nearly 4 & having the time of her life.

She hasn't a requested a bedroom that is completely ballet inspired, but today I am imaging she has & have created the perfect decor items to make it soft, elegant & graceful.

Mood Board - Farm House Happiness

There was no way I couldn't ever create a mood board around a fun farm house. 

What child, boy or girl doesn't love a visit to the farm? Or a visit to a metropolitan farm yard where animals are so excess-able. I know my kids loved visiting & still do actually. For Hudson's 4th & Charlotte's 2nd birthday I actually had a birthday party completely inspired by this. 

This farmhouse decor design is one of my most popular, & generally created for boys. My mood board is focused solely on a junior boys bedroom who has a keen eye for farm animals. It has an natural feel created with a timber bed & lots of wooden tones & pops of red to brighten it up. The products I have selected are based around my own farmhouse yard decor products, which are a great base for starting a room inspired by the farm, their animals, & so many other possibilities.

Mood Board - Lolly Pink Happiness

Yay it's mood board day. Today's selection is definitely for the big girl, the one that is moving on from her baby toys & not wanting too much cutesy. But still wants to feel cozy, comfortable, safe & familiar? She still loves pink, but isn't totally obsessed with it like her younger self anymore. She wants to mix it up, add other colours, so it's a little more big girl style.

I adore pink and yellow together, it's one of my favourite colour combinations. It's fresh & has a really happy vibrance to it. I look at it & feel summery, it certainly pops a spring in my step. I am completely in LOVE with the pink peacock chair, it's divine isn't it? Also the pink wire light, what a great industrial feel but so pretty.

Mood Board - Bright and Cheery Zoo Animals

I thought I would have some fun today & create a mood board that is bright and cheery with the theme of zoo animals. Lets be honest, I create a lot of children's decor. I thought it was time to have fun, & find other co-ordinating bedroom furniture & decor pieces, to make up an amazing kids bedroom.

I have had a ball doing this, so I think it's going to be a regular feature.

Although this kids bedroom could be quite unisex, it does tend to lean more towards a toddler boys bedroom I think. With the main colours as white, turquoise and orange I think it lends it self to a fresh & spacious feel. The pieces I have selected are quite minimal, which is great as you could definitely add to this theme. Some wooden items would definitely ad some texture and fun. A little more yellow & pops of lime green would definitely make this room look fantastic.

Ballet Mood Board Inspiration

I am starting to plan new designs, I find this stage really exciting thinking about what I haven't created before. Working out what new ideas that make my heart race. I have learnt to really listen to my body when I create, or when I am sourcing new ideas. I always know I am on to something, if I am excited & smiling from the inside out.

I am wanting to create a dance ballet range. I have never danced in my life, I was always into sport, so  was my mum, hence me never entering a dance studio. However Charlotte has taken to it, (like many 3yr old girls), so last year I enrolled her in a kindy dance program, & ever since it's been the highlight of her week. Her enthusiasm has drawn me to the dance & ballet world, still not knowing anything about it technically, I am drawn to it's beauty. It is so feminine. So pretty. So graceful. So elegant. So gracious. It has a soft romantic & even vintage feel. When I think of ballet, I think about fluid movements, soft pink satin, tulle, ribbons, slippers, dusky pink & creme, lace, and two tone roses.

I have put together a mood board to create inspiration, & keep me on path with my ballet design vision.

I have thought of a colour palette, it's soft & very ballet. I want to keep the colours a little cleaner, & not as murky as what is perceived a little more traditional.

With ideas down, its time to get some art drawn.
