A GREAT long weekend

So how was your long weekend?

Mine was great.

Saturday I had a blast! With the weather so damn stinking hot, I thought I would have friends over and a BBQ, it was just what I needed. Lots of rest, fun, and relaxation. I invited one of the gorgeous ladies I have met through kinder over, (as she lives up the road), her husband and 3 adorable kids. My sister in law also popped over with her husband and 2 kids, so needless to say it was a full house. It was such a great feeling having a full house, the kids were laughing, squealing and running a muck, and I was sitting, chatting and letting the gin and tonic flow freely! We ate, and ate some more, and I made one of my favourite deserts, Pavlova. YUM!! YUM!! YUM!!

Sunday was certainly a recovery day. We all got to bed very late, especially late for my kids 10pm! Charlotte was out like a light when her head hit the pillow, and Hudson took a little longer to wind down. So the four of us all just hung out but first we had to go to Harvey Norman to return a SD can that was not formatting correctly in my camera. While we were there we thought we would check out some beds, as Charlotte will be need one sooner rather than later. Eeeek the kids were climbing in them, literally testing them out. Is that allowed? I guess so as the sales assistant came over her was fine with it, and maybe cursing us as we left...oops!

As it was so stinking hot, we ran into JB Hifi and let the kids pick a new movie/cartoon to relax and watch. Their choices (below), are becoming too predictable, oh well it guaranteed some peace and quiet for the afternoon!

Monday was a working day for me. Normally Hudson is in kinder, and Charlotte occasional care, and that's when I work like a mad woman at home. Cramming a weeks work into 5hrs. But today Daniel was home so he watched them and I worked away. I caught up on some mundane things, I have started an new online course to help me set up an online folio, more about that later, and I started planning some mother's day items for Quirky and Quaint.

The rest of that day included some swimming.

And lastly my mum and dad came over for dinner. I made a tray of lasagna and we sat outside with a drink and chatted for ages. It was really good as I hadn't seen dad for a couple for weeks. Dad play cricket with Hudson, which seems to be his latest passion, and Charlotte tried to get involved, which really bugged her brother!

Overall a really great weekend, no complaints ere this morning.
I hope your weekend was a lovely as mine.

Not a great weekend

It all started Tuesday I had this headache I just couldn't shift. By Thursday I was feeling sick in the stomach, almost like a reminder of morning sickness, but I knew there was nothing to worry about :)

Friday came & the headache had gone, but the stomach ache & constant waves of nausea was worse. I had a heap of work to do as I had a home showing presentation on Saturday, & couldn't miss it. My sister in-law came by & collected the kids so I could work. As soon as she left it was if I had let my strong mummy guard down & I was sick constantly for hours on end. I hate vomiting there is nothing worse.
To top it off, later I had a call from my sister in-law telling me Charlotte was throwing up to!! All this was happening & hubby was on the other side of town. I tried to no be too over alarmed as I knew she was in good hand but I felt dreadful knowing my baby wasn't with me. Eventually hubby collected them to then let me know on the way home it was Hudson's turn....Yep all in the car!!! Could it get worse. It was one of those family sharing caring moments.....eeek it's just awful.

I just felt like this cloud was hanging over my head & I couldn't help.

Yesterday was a day of quiet slumber for the 3 of us as we all layed on the couch soaking up lots of Disney movies drifting in & out of sleep.

Today we're soldiering on & all seeming well & in high spirits. It's a semi warm day, very overcast & borderline muggy. The kids have had a swim, which I think has freshened them up & livened them up a tad. As for me, well I was doing what all post sick mothers do clean....clean....clean.....

Yep the toilets, the bathrooms, the sheets, the kitchen, you name it anything where I think this nasty bug may have touched. My hands feel so dry, yet I feel so much better, knowing I have made our home a cleaner space. To be honest not the best was to spend a Sunday morning, as I usually clean during the week, but what can you do? Excect enjoy whats left, try to catch up on some work & keep thinking tomorrow is another day.

I hope you're weekend has been nothing like mine.

My weekend

How was your weekend? Mine always come and do so fast, & before I know it here we are again Monday.

My Saturday always starts, well for the last 3 weeks anyway, with a workout at the gym. I am really making an effort to make this wonderful feeling of exercise part of my life again & it feels great. I am not feeling half as sluggish & its nice to be slowly losing some weight.

Then off to the supermarket, my poor old cupboards were bare. I know I am not the first person to do that, it's terrible when you're scratching around for something to eat. Then unpacking groceries is such an ordeal for me & takes forever, mainly because I chop all my fresh veggies into pieces which are placed in the fridge smarts from Tupperware. Why do it you ask? When I have to get dinner made in a flash & the kids are cranky all I have to do is pull them out & throw what I need in the steamer, wok or post. It's done & it's fast!

Then after an hour or so hanging out with the kids we head off to zoo twilights. Snacks were made, dips were packed, fruit was cut & a few chocolate chip cookies were snuck in as a later treat. The band playing was Beautiful girls, which I later found out were men!! I can't recall hearing much of the band as I was with a friend & didn't stop talking. The weather was weird, warm, wet, damp & windy, but it didn't change my mood.

Here are my kids on the picnic rug munching on crackers.

Melbourne's weird weather, sunny, damp, cloudy & stormy.

My gorgeous friend Kim. It was great hanging out having a few wines, in my world there is nothing better. Her adorable daughter Allie was there keeping my babies amused as they played chasey & danced all together. If you have never experience zoo twilights in Melbourne I highly recommend it. I have been going for years, even before I had kids & generally go to see Kate Cebrano as I love her. But thought this year might be nice for a change. It's such a relaxed atmosphere sitting on your picnic rug, creating a delicious spread of food, drinking some wine, & if you're up to it you can watch some of the animals being fed, elephants, seals, baboons & lions. Hudson got to hear the lions raw last night....Scared the pants off him!!!

This morning I woke to a wonderful sight.....My new pool!!
It was finished yesterday & we were filling it over night. We have been building it since last November & I am a little disappointed it's completed so late, but I am sure we will still have some hot summer days soon....Fingers crossed.

I hope you had a lovely week & have an inspired week ahead of you xx

My Saturday

Saturday is here already.
The sun is shining in Melbourne today, it feels warm on my skin. It is so divine.

What are you doing today?

Today has become a little about me, its so lovely to do this occasionally.

No work for the day (tonight I work) instead I have potted around home, been to spotlight with Miss Charlotte in tow, a trip to the hairdresser for a wee trim, & afternoon tea later with mum & her best friend.

A spot of shopping on Etsy & I bought this divine bag from Mod Diva.
While I was shopping at Mod Diva, I picked up this adorable set of cushions. I am starting to redecorate my living area & these are just perfect. I love the colour, the design, just everything. A great colour palette to work from also.

What a days it's turned out to be. I hope yours has been just as lovely.
