Saturday - creative space

Saturday's are very productive for me, I take advantage of my husband being home & I get all of those jobs that need to be done. I am talking work wise, not the house:)

Today I am cutting, I have printed off all of my pending orders & now cutting the coordinating back panels. I only have a little space so I feel a little squishy, & sometimes find myself dreaming about the work space I would rather have. That being floor to ceiling windows, so I have an abundance of natural light, large walls spaces for hanging loads of inspirational images, and of course lots of storage space...heaven!!

Here are the main fabrics I use constantly on the backs of all of my products, all purchased on large rolls. As you can see it's even a bit squish for them too :)

I better get back to cutting, the sooner I finish the soon I can have some family time.

Have a great weekend.

Christmas preview

Christmas is slowly simmering away for all designers at the moment. Everyone is gathering their inspiration and ideas, ready to making this Christmas their prettiest ever.

That's been the case for me.....I have been drawing away getting designs planned for my stockings. I am very happy with the final outcome and here is a preview of all 6 new designs.

Next is my Christmas bunting. It' very different to last years design, a little more colourful an modern. There is something about a Christmas snowflake that I love, they just look so pretty and delicate. Even thought it's summer here at Christmas, I still think they are beautiful, and one day hope to experience a white Christmas with my husband and kids.

A new items this year, I have created a Christmas pear. A lovely ornamental piece that's will be able to come out every year to put on show. This is a sneak peek only in the panel stage. The complete one will be here to show soon.

It's not even September & I am getting excited about Christmas already.
I look forward to showing more soon.

The month it's been

This last month I believe has been the hardest I ever think I have worked. I think I have accomplished a full time job on casual/part time hours. I recall working just as hard when I was employed, but then I didn't have the distractions of the kids. If I needed to put in 10 hours straight to get the job done, I'd do it no questions asked. I have put together a whole range of new products, not just for Tiges and Weince but Quirky and Quaint. I always put together a new range every 6 months, with add ons in between but this was different. Coordinating other brands, developing new products, and making sure they were all cohesive was an exciting yet over whelming challenge. I have a real passion for putting together ranges, or collections depending on your preferred term. I have been doing it for 12 years & I never tire of it. It's such a thrilling and exciting job to do. I get asked all the time my tips & tricks for a cohesive collection, so I am thinking in the future it would be lovely to share my tips & thought process on the whole thing. From just doing it to actually writing about it, so I need to have a think of the best way to do it. You can see my new Summer QQ catalogue here.

Today I wanted to share my favourite shots I took of Hudson for the catalogue. He is obviously riding the hobby horses I am selling & the divine Fedora hats. Best part of all is this mini photo shoot cost me a whole 2 chocolate biscuits.

Another shot selected. It's also the shot I am using to promote as the FREE monthly host gift for September.

Yes I am biased because he is mine, but boy i think he did a brilliant job. The fact he is not camera shy helped.

Hop you're having a great Friday.

New Print & Wall Decal Launch!!!!!

I am finally getting there, my new range is pretty much complete, it's just the slow task of editing photos & uploading everything to my shops.

I have uploaded all of my new prints to Facebook, you can see the new album here. I have popped them on there specifically to have a launch sale! A celebration for the hours of drawing.

Here is some of my new work below, but there is just so much more to see. It's a great opportunity to save some money & purchase for Christmas.

While you're there I have also just released my very first range of wall decals. This is super exciting as I have never ventured into anything like this before. I decided to do these as I get asked a lot if I create them to coordinate with my other products, being cushions & doorstops mostly. Again I have loaded them on to Facebook, I hope you like them, you can see them here. They are all printed on high quality vinyl & the colours are extraordinary, so bright and vivid. Here are just a couple to give you an idea of what to expect.

I hope to have everything loaded into my shops over the weekend, but I truly am too excited and wanted to offer a weekend wall decal launch special.

If you would like to order anything or have any enquiries please feel free to email me;

Have a great weekend.

A little bit of toadstool magic

I am a bit slow off the mark when it comes to creating treasuries. I have never created one before until the other day, and I am kind of feeling somewhat addicted. I love searching and creating a storyboard like project. It reminds me of being back in college. Searching for the right colours, a great product mix, your intended look/theme, & fabulous photos, is such a fun thing to do. Also very time wasting if not careful!! Apologies for posting another so soon, but I just kind of can't help it :)

I am very inspired and loving toadstools lately, there is a little bit of whimsy, and something magical about them. I hope the collection I have created will pop a smile on your face today.

Have a great day.

Designing Quilts

I am leaping into unknown waters here. I absolutely adore quilts, I have never made one, I wanted to but have never got around to it. In my quest to create I met a lady who has a quilting business and has agreed to make them for me.

I'M SO HAPPY!!!!
As I want to sell them in my range they need to be perfect, nothing less, so it was best I gained the expertise of somebody else.

With so much excitement, I searched & bought my fabrics from Macs Craft. I am going to start of with 2 combinations, one for the boys and one for the girls. Can I tell you the hours I spent thinking & flicking from one supplier to another. It was very stressful having to actually invest in something, and commit hopefully making the right fabric choices. It took me 2 days, and when I know I have to be sure, I let it go for the day & re-look at it the next day with a fresher perspective.

I didn't want to make just any quilt I had to make sure my cushion designs were incorporated. I sell so many of them, and get asked so many times do I create quilts. Hence my journey in trying to create these. With a lot of chatting back and forth with my quilting genius, she has come up with the right amount of squares, to accommodate any 3 of my A4 sized designs. I have tried really hard to accommodate most of my current designs with quilting fabrics to blend. Most of my designs always consist of the similar colour palette, so fingers crossed all will blend perfectly.

The first girls sample before being sewn obviously, with all of the actual fabrics.

Here are the boys colours & designs.

I am assuming all will go well as here is my very first sample I had my quilter make. I used fabrics that I bought ages ago with intentions of making Charlotte a quilt one day. I just wanted to check that my panels work well aesthetically. I also wanted to make sure they wash well, which I can confirm the did, on a gently cold water machine cycle.

I am really excited and can not wait to share the final result, which should be here within the next day or two.

Go Aussie Go

Like all of us I have been watching the Olympics with as much spare time as possible. I love seeing the athletes perform with every ounce of their soul. Knowing that for some, it's been a dream to hold that medal. I get teary when I see them standing proudly, holding their whole life's journey in one gold disc. Even harder when I see the heartbreak in their faces when everything doesn't go to plan. I completely understand their passion, it's an emotional journey chasing a dream.

Unfortunately London just isn't the Olympics made for Australia this time, medal wise. We haven't performed as well as the media assumed we would, in some perspectives I have read that it's been a kick up the bum, & a reality check for some. Too big for our boots?? I believe it's quite harsh that the media can lash out at them. It's a fact, things don't work out as well on somedays as it does on others.

But if you ask me thats OK, I mean OMG just to be accepted into the Olympics is an achievement wihin itself. Thats telling me you're the BEST in your country, challenging the world's best in your chosen sporting carer. I think it's pretty bloody good to be honest.

Last night I sat on the couch having a rest, flicking around on the Ipad & decided to make a treasury on Etsy in the Australian colour's. Maybe with this gorgeous collection of green & gold (yellow), some positive vibes will be sent the Australian athletes way.

Aussie Aussie Aussie oi oi oi!

Have a great Sunday.

Another night to remember

Last night I was lucky to go and see one of my favourite shows ever as a musical, Annie. I can not count the amount of times I watched this movie it as a kid, it represented my era, it was like Glee, but in the 80's. Well kind of. My mum won tickets this time round so it was an awesome freebie.
There are my tickets, the view at intermission and of course the publicity shot. I was really impressed with the whole performance, Anthony Warlow was amazing, and Tod McKinney was amazing. I don't watch "Dancing with the stars", so I'm not that familiar with him or his credentials. However watching him dance was like him gliding effortlessly, man he can dance. Lots of parts were missing from the movie, but that's to be expected. I was a bit disappointed I didn't get to see Punjab saving Annie though.

The main gripe I have with the show is Annie having straight hair. Yep not a curl in sight until the end. It was a red bob with a heavy fringe. It looked lovely on the performer, but to me that's not Annie. The adorable, yet unattractive bright red curls are. It was just weird!

So inspired by the whole show I have created a print that is definitely going up in Charlotte's room. Besides the song "The sun will come out tomorrow", my favourite song is...."You're never fully dressed without a smile". It's just so damn true and cheery.

The size is my normal 40x30cm & instead of $35 I would love to offer it for $25. This is a blog and Facebook special that will last until Sunday night. If you would like to order one please email me....tigesandweince@gmail.com

Thanks for reading :)
