Sleep all day...Up all night...

I am still around, maybe not posting new items yet, regularly blogging and working around
life like I usually do, but I am still here.
Little Miss Charlotte is going well, but has become baby vampire like!!
Yep, sleep all day, awake at night. I had these same problems with Hudson and got through it ......Just!! I was seriously hoping Charlotte would be the perfect sleeper as a lot of friends, other mums generally say when one is challenging, the other is great.
So the challenge is on to attempt to switch this around, before it takes hold.
It's impossible to keep a newborn baby awake so they will sleep better at night.
Besides that I just couldn't even think of doing such a thing.
I have started a bit of awake time stimulation popping her on the rocker with all the dangling toys. Sometimes she's interested, most of the time she sleeps right through it.
Also this time I can't nap during the day as Hudson doesn't have a daytime sleep anymore. So the risk of me catching some ZZZZ's, with an overly loving and doting big brother who loves to get very close, can be a tad risky.
Any tips fellow mothers?

Last Post For A Wee Short Time

Hi all, just a quick note to let you know this will be my last post for a wee short time.
Tomorrow I go into hospital to have my baby, I am so happy, yet so anxious.
I am having a cesarean. I know what to expect as I went through it with Hudson.
I have been a bit slack as I haven't packed a bag for myself or the baby, so best I spend the rest of the day getting organised. I am guessing I will be home next Monday or Tuesday, so hopefully I will be back on line to post a photo of the new addition in my life.
Thanks to all those well wishes I have received & I look forward to getting back online soon.

Where did the term 'nesting' come from?

Where did the term 'nesting' come from?
It is said before you have a baby you nest, hence wanting to clean, organise, and become obsessed with the pending babies nursery.
I have 4 days to go, and I am doing nothing of the such.
I have however, had a fierce creative surge.
The last couple of days I have come up with some new product ideas for Tiges and Weince.
My iron on transfers always sell well, so I need to start incorporating them into my product range. An obvious one has come about, a bunting.
I actually look at it more like a 'decorative banner'. I don't want triangles, I love squares,
and my aim is to hang something arty from the wall.

I love anything that has a whimsical feel, that is classic yet fun, so here is my first banner.
A banner featuring one of my favourite designs, 'birdy' and a new one 'magical mushrooms'.

Hudson's 2nd Birthday

Today is my baby boy's 2nd birthday.
I can't believe Hudson is 2.
I was feeling a bit guilty I didn't throw the big 2nd birthday party, but with me going in to have my other baby Friday week, I am just too tired.
So I opted for the grandparents to come over to open a present or two, and have a piece of cake.

Buying a present for a 2 year old is hard work. I mean he has absolutely everything, too much I think sometimes. I decided to buy him a "friends of the zoo", (FOTZ) pass so we can go every 6 weeks or so. He loves the zoo & so do I.
Just for the unwrapping purposes above, I bought him a little magnetic fishing set which wasn't the best of ideas when he started flicking the rod everywhere!!
Here we are trying very hard to blow out the candles.
There was lots of huffing and puffing but mot a whole lot of air coming out.
I think there was more spit than anything!
Hudson's favourite word lately is "CAKE", so he was beside himself when he saw this number come out with candles.
A quick and easy celebration, I am still trying to get over the fact he is 2.
Where does the time go?
Happy birthday Mr Magoo

My 1st Modish Creators Market Stall

The first Modish Market is done and I am so, so, so thrilled with the outcome.
I was absolutely pumped the whole day meeting everyone and checking out some amazing product. From what I hear back from the stallholders is that the day ran very smoothly and very few hiccups erupted.
There are a few things Kelly & I want to improve on, but we expected that.
As they say, "Rome wasn't built in a day", and you can't begin to perfect something until you have experienced it first.
We did a quite of lot of marketing and ended up with just over 600 people through the door.
Not bad I don't think for our first market. It can only get better and better.
I am excited for next month and we're now starting to plan again.
Below are some snaps of my updated stall props on the day.

I was very happy with my bookmarks new home.

My new gift tags.

Another home for my prints.

It's going to take a bit of balance to run the market and my stall together.
My sales, I will be honest we slow. It does make a difference when selling, if the creator is behind the stall as opposed to your mum. Bless her heart, she did a great job, but just doesn't know the product like I do. Interaction and knowledge of your product is so vital when customers are looking. But hey everything is a journey, I can't complain.

Modish Market Launch This Saturday

I can't believe tomorrow is finally the launch of Modish Market!!

Kelly, who is also my cousin and my business partner, have been working absolutely non stop to make this a great success. The main hall and banquet room at the Malvern Town Hall is full, with 62 fabulous stallholders from over 10 different categories. To see who is showcasing tomorrow their handmade delights click here. I am sure you will already recognise the majority of them. We have also created a mini food hall in the foyer to pick up your yummy treats.

There is also a competition for everyone to enter.
By signing up to our mailing list, which you can do via the blog, or in our mailing list book on Saturday, you will go straight into the draw to win a $100 Modish Market gift voucher.
We will be drawing this on 14th May for you to spend at the next Modish Market which is on June 19th.
Thanks you to everyone for supporting us, we are extremely humbled by the response.
It's going to be a fabulous day, with many more fabulous markets to follow.
If you are considering applying for a stall please be quick as June & August are filling up.
To keep a great variety we keep a cap on the amount of applicants per category.
If you aren't a stall holder pop on down to have a look and support all of the handmade
goodness available, and don't forget to say hi to me.

Something to be annoyed about....

I need to vent today, get something off my chest that has really bothered me.
I have expressed this to my family and friends, but it's not enough.

I am very annoyed about our current PM, yes that guy.
I have private health insurance and see an obstetrician. I have had many pregnancy complications in the past, so seeing a specialist who can watch over me has been
mine and my husbands saving grace.

Most of us may be aware of the medicare levy threshold? Well we are all subsidised, but once our rebates hit a threshold figure (which I can't be exact on the amount), you end up receiving 80% of your benefit back. With the cost of obstetrics, and mine are nearly $5000, per pregnancy, you can claim the first portion which brings me to that 80% threshold.
It can see me being refunded $2500 - $3000.

Our PM has decided to withdraw this threshold only from obstetrics.
If you weren't 20 weeks pregnant by the time Jan 1st 2010 came this year you missed out.
I was 20 weeks on 19th Jan 2010.
The big deal is this....I have gone from receiving around $2500 back to $450 maybe!!
I think "Not happy Jan" is very appropriate here.
Apparently this was in the paper & on the news??? With a toddler, I don't know about you but having time to watch TV, and read papers is a rare occasion.

I don't understand this decision. I believe it will have some dire consequences.
1. Put families out of pocket like me.
2. Stop patients having private care for pregnancy, due to cost.
3. Effect obstetricians businesses
4. Clog up the public system even more than it already is.
Unbelievable.
Thanks for listening to my rant, sometimes putting your thoughts on paper, or well into cyber space, is very therapeutic.

My next collage is complete....Star Gazing Squirrel.
Star Gazing Squirrel.....Is an original and one off mixed media piece of artwork.

The squirrel has been drawn with an ink pen and painted with watercolour paints. The tree is all acrylic paint. The stars and acorns are all made of felt, and the stars having a white highlight sewn on with embroidery thread. The ground cover created with scrap booking paper.

New Stands For My Next Market

I started some new stands for my markets stalls a couple of months ago.
They look fine, but I wasn't 100% happy so I have started from scratch again.
This time I am extremely happy with them.
I got hubby to work with a few sketches I came up with, some printed inspiration I
found online, and here is the result.
It's half finished and still needs a bit more paint, but still worthy of a sneak peak.

Everything will be ready by Saturday, full of stock, in anticipation for the launch of
